As of the end of 1995, the world's rutile (including anatase) reserves and reserve base were 33.3 million tons and 164.4 million tons respectively, and the total resources were about 230 million tons (TiO2 content, the same below), mainly concentrated in South Africa, India, Sri Lanka, Australia. The world ilmenite (TiO2) reserves and reserve base are 274.3 million tons and 435.3 million tons respectively, and the total resources are about 1 billion tons; they are mainly concentrated in South Africa, Norway, Australia, Canada and India.
By the end of 1996, China had reserves of High Purity Titanium (magnetic) iron ore (equivalent to TiO2) of 357.0409 million tons (including A+B+C grade of 231.9150 million tons); ilmenite (placer) mineral reserves of 38.0319 million tons (including A+B) +C level 21,471,700 tons); rutile mineral reserves of 2,568,600 tons (of which A+B+C level 737,300 tons); rutile TiO2 reserves of 7,508,600 tons (of which, A+B+C level 2,242,300 tons).
If China’s A+B+C grade mineral reserves of ilmenite placer deposits in 1996 are 21.471 million tons, converted to 48% TiO2, its TiO2 reserves will be 10.3064 million tons, which only accounts for the world’s ilmenite (TiO2) in the same year. 3.83% of the 270 million tons; if it is combined with the A+B+C grade reserves of primary titanium magnetite (TiO2) (23,191.50 million tons), about 50% of the available ilmenite is granular ilmenite. The total TiO2 reserves of 119,957,500 tons are added up, and the total TiO2 reserves are 1,262,264 tons, which accounts for 47.76% of the world’s 270 million tons of ilmenite (TiO2) reserves. In this sense, China can be called the world’s titanium The country with the richest iron ore resources.
If China’s A+B+C grade reserves of rutile minerals in 1996 were 737,300 tons, converted to TiO2 reserves of 693,100 tons with 94% TiO2, plus A+B+C grades of rutile (TiO2) in the same year Reserves of 2.4243 million tons, totaling 3.114 million tons, accounted for 9.36% of the world's 33.3 million tons of rutile (TiO2) reserves in the same year. This shows that China's rutile resources are not rich.
